ID Lance together with Parta.io hosted a design challenge in August 2025. The challenge was to build a short onboarding module (~ 5 mins) for a new hire at Ice SCREAM, using Parta. Ice SCREAM was described as the “boardwalk’s most haunted ice cream shop” and staffed by ghosts, ghouls, and Margaret, the overprotective Victorian inventory manager.

The course had one goal: to help the new hire “survive their first shift.” The challenge provided a few assets, branding elements, and loose guidelines about the ice cream parlor and the course, but left us mostly free to run wild with our creativity.

Together with Amber Laidman, my submission was declared the winning entry, earning me an Amazon gift card and a full year’s subscription to Parta.io.

Injecting humor into eLearning is one of the toughest things to pull off, but it was also what made designing this course so much fun. I had a blast crafting puns and researching emojis, freedoms I rarely get with client projects.

Beyond the fun, I also learned to:

• Use Parta: A tool that promises to revolutionize collaboration between L&D and non-L&D teams.
• Vibe code a custom game: I embedded a JavaScript mini-game designed with ChatGPT’s help.
• Experiment with Google Veo: I produced an immersive video using Google Veo, which added the perfect “cherry on top” 🍨 (pun intended!).
